Over 40s win again

7 May, Friendly, Home, GVA (property consultants)

In a reduced 12 eight-ball overs game due to threatening rain, GVAs innings started slowly with David Woakes striking in his first over, and Barry Holbutt in his second. GVAs opener and ex-Aston Old Edwardians batsman capitalised on the short boundary and hit 99 retired. Holbutts two overs for two runs, Austen Imbers one over for one run, Shashi Thakors tight off-spin and Sam Woodings agile fielding helped restrain the visitors to 127-3.

In reply, Chris Wooding raced to 35 before his run out. Wayne Turner then retired on 19, for Ian Bosworth to hit 15, supported by John Pages 6. Nick Farrell added 14, and Imber 15 retired. David Bond, together with Woakes, saw the Manor through to 130-4 with an over remaining.
