Match Report Elford
Elfords late conceding of the league fixture due to insufficient over 40s gave the Manor the three points, which means second place in the league is possible pending others remaining games.
The poor wicket, lack of sight screens and appalling soft out of shape ball did not detract from an excellent friendly match which enabled player participation to be maximised.
Simon Bowens 41 got the visitors off to a good start, followed by Ian Bosworths 11 and Austen Imbers later 24 in a 112-8 total.
Opening bowlers David Woakes (3-10-1) and Peter Woakes (4-28-2) held back Elfords openers, with economic spells continuing from Dud Holloway (4-17-1), Shashi Thakor (2-0-8-0), Martin Rose (2-9-2), Ian Bosworth (2-7-0), David Bond (2-6-1) and Gez Thomson (1-2-1). With 15 needed from the last over, David Woakes ensured only ones and twos could be scrambled, before taking the final wicket as Elford closed on 103 all out.
