Manor lose against strong Walmley side

A strong Walmley side were put into bat, and were soon a wicket down as Dave Woakes struck. Dave Bond then captured the visitor’s number 3. The remaining Walmley opener batted patiently for an excellent 64 before being removed by Austen Imber, and Woakes later struck again. Walmley’s harder hitters were unable to extend the score beyond reach due to the few overs left, and the 144-4 total was restricted by excellent Manor fielding including Nick Farrell’s wicket keeping.

Ian Bosworth got the chase off to a promising start, hitting the first ball for four, but was then run out. Rob Bartlett (28) and Chris Wooding (20) worked ones and twos around the field before both were run out. Ali Baba (28) on his Over 40s debut and Austen Imber (29 not out) pushed the score on, but tight bowling in the fading light meant Aston Manor fell short on 130-4.
