1st Win in Friendly Against Walmley

23rd April 2013
Aston Manor Over 40s v Walmley Over 40s Friendly

In Aston Manors Over 40s friendly at Church Road, Walmley elected to bat in the sunshine on a run scoring track. Opener bowler Steve Knowles struck in his first over, but former Aston Manor opening batsman John Pigott raced quickly to 29 before later falling to Knowles, who ended with 3-29 from 5 overs.

Walmley reached 146-6, contained by Aurrel Kirnon 5-32-1, Aqil 5-40-1 and Austen Imber 5-26-1.

Manors innings started poorly with Chris Woodings and Dom Ashton clean bowled by left arm in-swing in the first over. Simon Bowen at number three hit 10 boundaries in his 50. Ian Boswell (23), Aqil (24 not out) and Kirnon (14 not out) saw Manor through in the fading light for the loss of six wickets with nine balls remaining.

Manors two further friendlies are both at home: Four Oaks Saints on the May 22nd and Elford on May 29th. The Warwickshire Over 40s league games begin with two home games, Water Orton on June 5th and Four Oaks Saints on June 12th. All are 6.30pm start.

Spectators including former players are welcome. Anyone wishing to be added to the playing squad, please contact Austen Imber, 07910 775014, and likewise anyone wishing to be added to the email database for fixtures notifications, or former players able to assemble Over-40s teams for future friendlies against the Manor.
