Well Done To The Selected Under 14s In The Inner City Cup
Birmingham Schools Under 14s won the annual Steve Perryman Shield against local rivals Coventry on Monday and Steve himself was on hand to present the Shield at Erdington Court Cricket Club.
Birmingham made 175 in their 25 overs with Aston Manors Waqas Younis making a brilliant 98*. Khasad also supported with 24 in a total of 175-5 off 25 overs, helping Birmingham to win a high scoring encounter by 12 runs.
The Coventry cricketers fought hard all the way and finished just short on 163 in an excellent contest.
Steve said, the standard was good and its a really important tier of cricket for lads who arent quite ready for County level, but nonetheless have the raw talent to develop.
The Shield is named after Steve for his coaching and playing contributions in Birmingham and Coventry, having grown up in Yardley, attended Sheldon Heath School and developed into a Warwickshire first class cricketer.
Birmingham will now take on Liverpool & Belfast and Coventry play Derby & Nottingham in the Lords Taverners Inner Cities Cup for a place in the Arundel Festival.
