Late onslaught by Manor U13s but Sutton keep the squirrels at bay
The under 13s squirrels drew swords against Sutton Coldfield for the Under 13s West Midlands Cup at Rectory Park last Sunday morning. Manor lost the toss and Sutton chose to bowl in bowler-friendly conditions.
Manor were soon in trouble having lost Adam (0) to the 6th delivery of the innings. A small partnership formed between Khasad (9) and Waqas (18) which ended at 23 for 2. The next four wickets all fell cheaply leaving Manor reeling on 45-6 and trying to scratch their way to a something worth defending. This was not so and in the end manage to reach a total of 57.
In contrast, Suttons first pairing, for the first four overs, drove, pulled and cut Manor apart. Their first wicket came at a cost of 13 runs. The second pairing looked even more confident in reaching the target, with wickets in hand and many overs to go. Brinda soon saw to this and got their main batter leg before, and the 2nd wicket coming in at 48 runs. This left Sutton requiring 10 from 5 overs. The next 3 wickets cost Sutton 7 runs, but they finally crossed the line with an over to go.
