Winning draw for the 4ths against Kings Heath

19.05.2012 Aston Manor 4ths vs King Heath 3rds

Aston Manor 4ths 252 for 8 dec. off 44 overs
Kings heath 3rds 125 for 9 off 46 overs
A winning draw and 18pts to Aston Manor

For the 3rd week running Manor were put into bat, for the 3rd week running another grand total. After the early loss of Roman, Alex Rose (26) and Reece Fletcher (20) gave us a solid start, before an unlucky Alex was caught near the boundary. Amritpal Singh, came to the crease joined soon after by Liam Rake. A 123 4th wicket partnership ensued, anchored by Liam (40 off 40 balls), a stunning 62 ball attack on the Kings Heath bowlers gave the Beast 103 hitting only 4 fours but 11 maximums to take control of the game. The tail were allowed to push for the 250 mark and aided by 22 n.o from Adnan Akhtar reached a declaration.

Kings Heath in reply made steady progress, their openers putting on 76 before Qas Haider (9-3-23-3) took first blood for Manor. Qas took 2 more wickets in his next over to reduce Kings Heath to 88 for 3. Supported all this time by once again miserly, but unfortunate, Kieran Carroll (10-5-12-0). Liam Rake returned taking a double wicket maiden to take out the heart of Kings Heath at 93 for 5. Liam (10-1-28-3) had ended a good 50 from Javod Malik and also any chance of Kings Heath going for the win. They shut up shop around Greg Arrand (14 n.o) as the efforts of Adnan Akhtar (9-1-53-3), the Beast (6-2-7-0) and Reece Murray (2-1-1-0) backing up Qas, Kieran and Liam could not once again take the final elusive wicket.

Again a great all round display in difficult, cold conditions. The team was lead well by Reece Fletcher (Capt.) and Liam (Vice) on the field as they strived for the outright win, but the result leaves us at the top of the table 3 games in, and still we have room for improvement.
