Manor lose friendly against Four Oaks Saints

23 May 2013
Aston Manor Over 40s v Four Oaks Saints Over 40s Friendly

Four Oaks elected to bat for their 15 eight-ball overs, and proceeded cautiously until the fall of the first wicket at 50 in the seventh over, contained by opening bowlers Geoff Knowles and Tony Heaney. Barry Holbutt and Ian Bosworth helped contain late hitting in a final total of 143-2. A Four Oaks opening batsman remained unbeaten at the crease on 88 for the full 15 overs.

In reply, Chris Wooding batted steadily until retiring on 29. Rob Barnett, Jason Furnell, John Page and Ken Wooding pushed the score along, but 13 an over was needed from the half-way stage. Simon Bowen led the challenge, hitting a quick 51 not out, later supported by Austen Imbers 19 not out. Aston Manor fell 6 runs short at 138-4.

The Warwickshire Over 40s league games begin with two home games, Water Orton on 5 June and Four Oaks Saints 12 June. Both are 6.30pm start.
