Manor Lose Against Kings Heath

Kings Heath 214 for 8 off 45 overs
Aston Manor 4ths 143 all out in 34 overs

Unfortunately the first match of the season saw the end of the 4ths record of not losing a match since it started last year. Put into bat Kings Heath were held in check for much of the first 12 overs at 30 for 2 but steady batting took them to 90 for 3 by drinks. Fortune sided with Kings Heath as poor fielding in some part, nicks, edges, aerials that didn’t carry etc were prominent.

All bowlers put in the effort without much return. Liam Rake 2 for 31 off 10, young Adnan Akhtar 2 for 44 off 6 during the main onslaught, and a seasoned unbroken 10 over donkey work returning 1 for 56 for Senior Rose when he should have at least 4. Tight bowling in the last 10 from Liam and U13 Mo Harroon (1 for 10) held back Kings Heath but the damage was done.

Although always up with the rate when batting, wickets fell at regular intervals. The only performances of merit came with 37 from Liam and a debut 28 off Brijesh. On the whole too many threw away their wicket including the skipper when better options were available. With some of the new younger talent now onboard expect better reports of the 4ths in the future.
