4ths remain top

4ths Remain Top!
Streetly 3rds 104 AO 35.1 overs
Aston Manor 4ths  106-4 17.1 overs
Aston Manor won by 6 wickets, 24 points

For the 4th time in 4 games Manor lost the toss and were asked to field by the Streetly captain on a scorching hot afternoon. Both openers fell within the first 6 overs to Liam Rake (6-1-13-2) and Kieran Carroll (10-1-25-1) with only 10 runs on the board. A short spell filled with pace and hostility from Talat Rashid (3-2-4-1) supported initially by Kieran and then Qas Haider (6-0-27-1) saw the top 4 crumble. With the score at 48-4 after 19 overs the experienced Steve Knowles entered the fray. Allowed to bowl down the hill, assisted by a gusting tail wind, Steve took the wicket of T.Rabone, who played some nice shots for his 21. A.Thomas once again provided resistance being the last man out for 35 as Knowles Jnr skittled out the tail to finish with a well deserved five wicket haul (8.1-1-24-5). (The jug being deferred to the end of season presentation as a result of Steves very long pockets). There were also some notable performances in the field, a superb slip catch from Alex Rose, two good pouches from Mo Haroon and three quality takes from stand in captain Reece Fletcher behind the stumps. Manor required 105 from 54 overs.

Despite only chasing a small target Manor didnt start well with Streetly fighting back taking the first three wickets, all for single figure scores, with just 26 runs scored after seven overs. Youngster Mo Haroon joined The Beast and despite riding his luck initially the pair managed to re-establish control with some glorious shots, plundering 80 off just ten overs. Unfortunately Amritpal Singh was dismissed one short off a well deserved 50 scoring 49 off 40 balls (8x4s,1×6) with 5 runs still left to get. 1 ball later the game was won with a 6 from Mo who finished 39 n.o (5x4s,1×6) with an equally impressive strike rate of over 100 (31 balls) . Possibly another star of the future coming from Manors excellent youth system.

A great all round performance yet again, with there still being room for improvement. Currently top of the table with the 2nd highest points total in WARCL.
