Youthful 3rd Team Hold On For Great Result

The third team, hit by a spate of holidays and injuries, turned to the youngsters and included 4 players under the age of 12 and 3 under the age of 15 for their match against Water Orton.

Dragged out of retirement skipper Evans won the toss and took to the field. Not deterred by a century opening partnership (L.Evans 129no) the youngsters took to their task well in the heat. Yash Patel bowled brilliantly finishing with 4-36 off 8 overs while Milky Byrne (on his debut) finished his 9 overs for 37 runs and was very unlucky not to take a couple wickets. Bob Evans and Waqar Ali taking the 2 remaining wickets. Special mention goes to Joe Griffith, whose unblemished fielding was rounded off with a superb catch, to Adam Nevitt for his skillful wicket keeping (cant remember a bye) and Pank Patel for his enthusiasm in the field and taking a catch off the skippers bowling!!

In reply Waqar Ali set the tone with a quick fire 65 ably supported by Yo Parvez (15) and Yash Patel (12). With batsmen 5 through 8 barely taller than wickets Water Orton crowded the bat for the inevitable killing - Joe Griffith, Adam Trevitt and Rikesh Patel had other ideas adding 25 runs but more importantly batting for 10 overs. Qas Haider hit a quick fire 14 before Milky Byrne (who batted for 11 overs) and a dour Bob Evans saw the team through to a deserved draw.
