Weather ruins possibility of an exciting finish

2nd XI
Birmingham League Division Two (South)
Bromsgrove 299-6 (45 overs)
Aston Manor 195-4 (32 overs)

The visitors made great use of a small boundary and an excellent batting surface at Church Road as they smashed an impressive 299-6 from their 45 overs.

Amongst the carnage skipper Trent Turner produced superb figures of 9-2-15-3 with his ever improving off spin bowling.

In reply the Manor batsmen also enjoyed the conditions reaching 195-4 from 32 overs before a heavy storm ended proceedings with Bromsgrove winning under Duckworth Lewis calculations.

14 year old Sahal Malvernkar (78) had led the way with a quality knock and had received good support from experienced opener Kamran Zaman (53) and another Manor youngster Waqas Younis (34).

Although a difficult chase, there was certainly a possibility that Manor may have chased down the 105 runs required from 13 overs with 6 wickets in hand due to the favourable batting conditions but unfortunately yet again the British weather had the final say!
