Weakened Manor side come close
Birmingham League Division Two
2nd XI
Aston Manor 210 all out
Fordhouses 212-8
FORDHOUSES WIN BY 2 WICKETS
For so long this season promotion seemed a realisable ambition for Manors young side, but the loss of key individuals has exposed the lack of depth of experience within the team. Nevertheless this has been a very promising season in the development of some of the young talent at the club. On Saturday their total of 210 was well below par, with most of the youngsters managing to get a start, but only the experienced Abdul Rahim (60) going on to make a significant contribution.
There is certainly no lack of heart in this team though and Fordhouses were made to fight all the way for their victory and scraped home by 2 wickets in an exciting finale. Scott Bryson (4-29), Rikki Bassi (2-26) and Jack Hobbis (2-37) were the pick of the bowlers who were all well supported by an enthusiastic performance in the field.
