Olton beaten by 7 runs
2nd XI
Aston Manor 214 all out
Olton 207 all out
ASTON MANOR WON BY 7 RUNS
Manor’s young 2nd XI finished the season in style with a nail biting success at Church Road.
The hosts got off to a splendid start through in-form Waqas Younis (62), but the batting disappointingly fell away leaving Joe Griffiths (37no) stranded as Manor were bowled out for 214 in only 43 overs.
After a couple of early wickets, Olton appeared to be cruising to victory before a superb spell from Shaun Carroll (5-26) with great support from Abdul Rahim (3-35) saw Olton finally dismissed 7 runs short of their total.
This was a result for great teamwork and spirit coupled with a refusal to ever give in. These are traits that have been so important during another very impressive season.
