Barnards Green 238-9
MATCH DRAWN
After last week’s debacle against Streetly, normal service was resumed as Manor produced a splendid all round performance at Church Road, but were unable to take the final wicket to secure victory.
Tom Caulfield (36) and Andrew Forman (14) got the hosts off to a solid start with a half century partnership, but the loss of three quick wickets soon changed the complexion leaving the hosts reduced to 67-3. However a magnificent partnership between Adam Nevitt (109) and Sahal Malvernkar (82) put Manor well back on top. Both batsmen played tremendous shots all around the wicket with Nevitt going to a well deserved century, whilst Malvernkar just missed out. A quick fire 18no from skipper Trent Turner accelerated Manor’s final score to an impressive 283-5.
Sahal Malvernkar (3-46) and Shaun Carroll (1-36) complemented each other well with the new ball as Manor made early in-roads to the visitors batting line up. When the hostile Kieran Carroll was introduced into the attack Barnards Green were reduced to 97-5 and a Manor victory looked likely. However, skipper James Styles (114) in partnership with Monzur Ahmed (50) proved a stubborn block with the former batting exceptionally well. The reintroduction of Kieran Carroll soon broke the partnership and almost saw Manor through to a fantastic victory. Carroll finished with 5-38 and bowled very aggressively and with serious speed. It was a superb effort by the whole team, but having someone of Carroll’s pace in your attack is always a massive boost to any team.
