Manor complete local derby double
2nd XI
Birmingham League Division Two (North)
Aston Manor 262-9
Streetly 167
ASTON MANOR WON BY 95 RUNS
Manor enjoyed a comprehensive win at Briar Avenue set up by an imperious innings from youngster Waqas Younis (117). He continued his outstanding form with a superb display of batting, gaining very useful support from the more experienced Austen Imber (56) and Mohammad Aquil (36). At one stage Manor looked set for a much bigger total but they were pegged back by some fine bowling from Adam Reed (5-59).
Streetly’s reply never got going against Manor’s accurate bowling, and at one stage they were in danger of being humiliated as they crumbled to 39-6. Some credible late order resistance, again led by Reed (46), gave their score respectability but Manor ran out comfortable winners.
Wickets were shared by Kieran Carroll (3-31), Shaun Carroll (3-31), Trent Turner (2-39) and the miserly Steve Knowles (2-7) in an enjoyable all round performance.
