Manor 2nds continue their good start to the season

Birmingham League Division Two (North)
2nd XI
Aston Manor 273-8
Coleshill 220-7

Manors 2nd XIs impressive form continued at the Colin Smith Memorial Ground in Church Road, but they were unable to secure their third successive victory as Coleshill held on for a draw on an excellent batting surface.

After being asked to bat, Abdul Rahim (49) and Trent Turner (22) got the hosts off to a solid start before the in-form pair of Onias Bascombe (77) and Shozab Haider (52no) batted beautifully to see Manor set an imposing total of 273-8 from their 50 overs.

Bowling a team out on such a good surface was always going to be difficult, and so it proved with Umang Anand (73) and Anthony Baker (65) proving to be the main thorns in Manors side as the visitors closed on 220-7 to give Manor the winning draw. Skipper David Woakes rotated his bowlers in an effort to try and win the match and the wickets were spread out with Trent Turner taking two and there being one apiece for Shaun Carroll, Jack Hobbis, Rikki Bassi, Waqas Younis and Shozab Haider.
