Manor 2nds continue great form

2nd XI
Birmingham League Division Two (North)
Aston Manor 164 all out
Fordhouses 133 all out

Manors usually reliable batting struggled on an inconsistent wicket and it took some fine application and stroke play by Waqas Younis (37), Shozab Haider (35) and particularly Scott Bryson (55) to rescue a difficult position and lay the platform for a substantial total. Unfortunately Fordhouses Nicholas Dobson (6-15) had other ideas taking three wickets in one over to dismiss the visitors for a disappointing total of 164.

Despite a fine opening spell from Rikki Bassi (1-27) the hosts seemed comfortable in chasing down the required target before the introduction of Manors two young spinners. With excellent support in the field both Jack Hobbis (15-5-39-5) and Trent Turner (14-4-26-2) bowled superbly in tandem to turn the game back in Manors favour. This young side has an incredible spirit and belief in themselves and it was Shaun Carroll (1-11) who took the final wicket to see his side through to an important victory which sees Manor at the top of the table two points ahead of Smethwick who visit Church Road next week.
