Comfortable win for the 2nds
2nd XI
Birmingham League Division Two North
Whitchurch 137 all out
Aston Manor 141-5
ASTON MANOR WON BY 5 WICKETS
Aston Manor 2nd XI continued their good run of form with an impressive victory at sunny Church Road against their Shropshire counter parts.
The Whitchurch batsmen found life difficult from an early stage against some fine Manor bowling with Craig Reynolds (5-35) being particularly impressive. Manor’s all round performance in the field was of a high standard and with Shaun Carroll grabbing two wickets and Steve Knowles, Paul Smith and Trent Turner one each the visitors were dismissed for only 137 on what appeared to be a good batting surface.
Manor’s reply got off to a torrid start as they were reduced to 23-3 in the face of some very good new ball bowling. Andrew Forman (49) steadied the ship and anchored the innings expertly whilst gaining good support from Joe Griffiths (26) and the hard hitting Alex Rose (39no) to see Manor through to an ultimately comfortable victory.
