Bank Holiday washout

Rain also had the final say in the 2nd XI fixtures at Church Road on both Saturday and Monday, although results elsewhere did move Manor up the table into second place. However, only the top side are promoted from the 2nd XI league and Manor will have to win their last three games to have any realistic hope of being Champions.

On Saturday against Wednesbury, a solid opening partnership between Sharafath Yoosuf (41) and Trent Turner (22) was wasted by some poor middle order batting before Jack Hobbis (24no) and David Woakes (18no) dragged the hosts back into contention to close on 170-9. The visitors appeared to be cruising toward their total before Hobbis (3-36) brought some control to proceedings in this weather interrupted encounter leaving Wednesbury to close on 133-5 and leave the match drawn

Monday’s game was even more frustrating against Whitchurch as a fine bowling performance had seen the visitors dismissed for 172 on a very good batting track. Trent Turner led the way with four wickets, whilst Rikki Bassi and Shaun Carroll both grabbed two and Abdul Rahim and Kieran Carroll one apiece. Sharafath Yoosuf and Waqas Younis gave Manor a great start racing to 67-0 from 14 overs before rain again became the winner and the match had to be abandoned.
