2nds start season off in style

AMCC 2XI 231 for 5 win V Water Orton CC 2XI 230 for 9 (50 overs)

Bowling first with a couple of new faces in the team a steady start was challenged by an excellent knock by experienced WOCC opener Horstford (64). Ricki Bassi and Owais Muhammed bowling well before Scott Bryson made the initial breakthrough. New boy Muhammed Jaffar coming into the attack very positively (3 for 32) being the pick of the bowlers with new spin pairing of Trent Turner (2 for 48) and Haroon Mohammed (2 for 20) taking crucial wickets as the pressure was piled on by skipper Shozab Haider. Last minute call up Qas Haiders excellent spell gaining the crucial wicket of Horstford with great tight fielding meaning the Water Orton total was in the end short of what it could have been, although some catching practise at nets will be needed by Manors young side.

A superb opening partnership of 141 between Trent Turner (44) and new signing Aqil (94) provided the excellent backbone to what became a straight forward run chase. Aqil hitting a strong Water Orton attack to all parts of the ground including 3 sixes and 16 fours to take the initiative on his debut. Having broken the back of the total the openers let the strong manor middle order takeover, with skipper Shozab Haider adding a quick fire 21 pushing the total along quickly. With his departure 16 year wicketkeeper Adam Nevitt then tidied up the finish with three boundaries in his 15 not out to gain a very creditable victory over strong opposition from a higher division.
