Some fine bowling by debutant Teeshal (4-44) and skipper Steve Knowles (3-28) kept the visitors in check on a pleasant sunny day at Church Road. Ian Prichard and Shaun Carroll were the other wicket takers as Whitchurch were restricted to 177-9 from their 50 overs.

Although several of Manors usual batsmen were not available this should have been a total well within their reach on such a good batting surface. However, despite Abdul Rahim (31) and Shahid Kureshi (24) getting decent starts, the top order proceeded to throw their wickets away with some rash and unnecessary shots and it was left to youngsters Scott Bryson (19) and Brinda Phagura (4no) to put on a match saving stand occupying 15 overs before last man Shaun Carroll played out the last over to save the blushes of those who batted before him.
