2nds continue promotion push
2nd XI
Birmingham League Division Two (South)
Stourbridge 169-9 (42 overs)
Aston Manor 170-3 (39.1 overs)
ASTON MANOR WON BY 7 WICKETS
Aston Manor’s 2nd XI continued their promotion push as they comprehensively defeated Stourbridge in a match reduced to 42 overs per side due to heavy overnight rain.
The hosts made a very positive start and had reached 70-0 before fine bowling from the experienced Steve Knowles (4-48) and the youthful Ridouan Asselman (4-37) curtailed their progress and restricted Stourbridge to 169-9. This was a very good all round performance, especially from those two bowlers, on such a good batting wicket.
Manor’s reply was built around another fine innings from in-form Andrew Forman (56) who along with fellow opener Abdul Rahim (36) gave the visitors a solid and positive start. Adam Nevitt (25) continued the good work before Waqas Younis (23no) and Sahal Malvernkar (19no) saw Manor home in impressive style.
