2nd XI
Aston Manor 195-9
Bedworth 198-8

Bedworth secured a last over victory in this enthralling top of the table encounter at Church Road which was a credit to 2nd XI Cricket.

Manor had first use of difficult damp conditions but the experienced opening partnership of Abdul Rahim (47) and Mohammed Aquil (44) batted superbly to take advantage of some wayward bowling from the visitors and put Manor into a very strong position. Once the pace was taken off the ball, batting became much more difficult with Lewis Moon (4-15) returning excellent figures for Bedworth. Manor were indebted to an impressive partnership between youngsters Scott Bryson (40) and Reece Murray (23) to leave the hosts with a competitive total of 195-9 from 50 overs.

The afternoon sun dried the wicket and made batting much easier, but good consistent bowling kept the run rate in check despite a fine innings from opener Alan Iles (57). An excellent spell of spin bowling from Reece Murray (11-3-42-4) kept the contest alive with the visitors requiring 8 runs and Manor 2 wickets from the last over. It was Bedworth who prevailed with two balls to spare, but Manor’s young side can take great heart from a very encouraging performance.
