Sunday 1sts Lose To High Flying Lichfield
The Sunday 1st XI suffered another defeat in Lichfield League Division One away against high flying Lichfield.
Some good early bowling by youngsters Adam Rana and Shaun Carroll had reduced the hosts to 31-3, but an unfortunate injury to Manors wicket keeper, Jitu (broken nose), meant fielding for the last 30 overs with only ten men. Lichfield took full advantage and closed on 203-8 despite fine bowling from Manahor Shmebi (3-33) and a welcome return to action for Jon Meacham (1-30).
Manors reply started disastrously, and they soon found themselves in serious trouble at 50-5. However, an excellent partnership between the ever improving Rana (42) and debutant Abeed (46) gave the final total of 166-9 some respectability despite the disappointment of a 37 run defeat.
