Rain prevents Manor victory

1st XI
Stourbridge 165-9 (55 overs)
Aston Manor 158-6 (48 overs)

Manor were dealt a cruel blow as the wonderful English Summer intervened to deny them victory away at Stourbridge after a very impressive performance.

The hosts were restricted to 165-9 from their 55 overs following a fine bowling and fielding performance. Arfan Khan (4-40) led the way with good support from Clement Smith (2-18), Aurell Kirnon (2-50) and Brinder Phaghura (1-17)

Openers Darren Baker (41) and Clement Smith (29) got the visitors off to a very good start and when hard hitting Aurell Kirnon (41) and Jason Furnell (12no) were in partnership, victory looked assured with only 21 needed from 10 overs with 5 wickets in hand. Sadly, heavy rain fell, and when the sides returned Manor only had just over two overs left to secure a win and fell agonisingly 8 runs short on 158-6. Very frustrating, but a fine all round performance.
