Rain intervenes

Both Manors Saturday and Sunday 1st XI teams suffered frustration with the wonderful British weather over the weekend.

The Saturday 1st XI match away at Eastnor was called off without a ball being bowled, and with other sides in the relegation battle gaining positive results, Manors plight at the foot of the table was increased.

The Sunday side in contrast are sitting at the top of the Lichfield Sunday League and were desperate to try and complete a match in difficult conditions against Lullington. In a match reduced to 25 overs per side, Manor started explosively with the superb Kyle Schreuder smashing 83 from only 47 balls. Both Wajid Hussain (22) and Darren Baker (29) gave him good support before a fine late partnership between Andy Forman (34no) and Abdul Rahim (21no) saw the hosts close on an impressive 201-3.

Lullingtons openers, Arnold (36) and Heaton (26) got the visitors off to a very good start before a rush of wickets shared by Scott Bryson (2-36), Brinda Phagura (1-30), Shaun Carroll (1-32) and Wajid Hussain (1-36) put Manor back in control at 98-5.

However, a good stand was developing between Green (36no) and Dawson (26no) before the conditions became too farcical and dangerous and both captains agreed to call it a day with the visitors on 149-5 from 19 overs.A great shame really, with 53 runs needed from 6 overs with 5 wickets remaining the match would have gone right down to the wire again. As most of the Sunday matches seem to!
