Warwickshire Premier League
Bablake Old Boys 213-9 (50 overs)
Aston Manor 139-3 (21.4 overs)
MATCH DRAWN
A late afternoon storm at Church Road frustrated Aston Manor after a solid performance had left them in a very strong position before the bad weather intervened.
After being asked to bat first Bablake made an encouraging start built around a good innings from Adil Hussain (71). The frustrating aspect for Manor was that they missed a fairly simple chance to dismiss Hussain before he started dominating, although to their credit the hosts kept on plugging away and were rewarded with wickets from Recordo Gordon (3-34), Shaun Carroll (2-39), Shaun Findlay (2-51) and Junior Johnson (1-48) as the visitors were restricted to a below par total of 213-9 from their 50 overs.
Gordon (39) ensured that Manor’s reply started positively and coupled with a sensible innings from Arun Toora (30) gave the hosts the platform to set up an important win. Fresh from last weeks superb century Shaun Findlay (30no) again looked in imperious form and along with Junior Johnson (18no) appeared to be guiding Manor to victory as they reached 139-3 before rain put an end to proceedings. With only 75 required from 28.2 overs and 7 wickets in hand the boys from Church Road will certainly feel that the elements were against them, but on the plus side this was still another positive result and performance from Aston Manor.
