1st XI
Bedworth 159 all out
Aston Manor 160-4

This comfortable victory at Church Road leaves Aston Manor 36 points ahead of Bedworth and in pole position to regain their Birmingham League status at the first time of asking.

Manor’s opening attack of Imran Khan (3-34) and Arfan Khan (2-50) used the new ball superbly, building pressure from the outset by bowling consistently good line and length. This enabled Manor’s new exciting young bowling prospect, Kieran Carroll, to rip through the much vaunted Bedworth middle order with a great spell of fast and aggressive bowling finishing with impressive figures of 7-1-25-3. Leg spinner Shaun Findlay (2-50) was the other wicket taker as the bowlers were well supported by a fine fielding performance highlighted by veteran keeper Mickey Bromhall who claimed five catches and a stumping in a near faultless display.

A solid opening partnership between Tom Caulfield (47) and Kamaran Zaman (20) ensured Manor had no early scares. Both batsmen had few problems with the new ball and set the platform for George Findlay (39) and Peter Evans (23no) to steer the hosts to victory with more than 10 overs to spare.
