Morale boosting win against Bridgnorth

1st XI Birmingham League Division Two
Aston Manor 198 all out
Bridgnorth 144 all out

Aston Manor followed up last weeks gritty draw with a stunning performance in the field to defeat Bridnorth and move out of the relegation places. The visitors elected to bat first and although Irfan Saroop (15) and Kyle Schreuder (47) got them off to a solid start, Manor were indebted to a fine innings by Peter Evans (58), supported by Jason Furnell (18) and Adam Morris (18), to enable them to reach a competitive score of 198 all out.

Despite some good new ball bowling by Arfan Khan (2-57) and Irfan Saroop (1-42) the hosts would have been confident of victory, but Warwickshire U15 starlet Brinda Phagura blew their middle order away with a devastating spell of 6-1-28-6. The youngster, who was on a hat-trick twice, was quite superb and was assisted by some excellent fielding and catching. Skipper Darren Baker grabbed the last wicket to ensure an important and morale boosting victory for his side, and hopefully they will be able to build on this victory when Halesowen visit Church Road next week.
