Manor too strong for Four Oaks Saints

Warwickshire Premier League
1st XI
Aston Manor 163 all out
Four Oaks Saints 86 all out

Manor’s encouraging start to the season continued at Clarence Road with a resounding victory against opponents widely expected to be one of their main challengers for promotion back to the Birmingham League.

Manor were asked to bat first in ideal seam bowling conditions, but openers Kamran Zaman (56) and Aaidil Bayhat (22) showed great application to see off the new ball and give the visitors a solid platform to build their innings from. Zaman continued in confident style and well supported by George Findlay (29), he ensured that Manor reached a competitive total of 163 before being finally dismissed in the 45th over.

The quality of Manor’s new ball attack was again evident as superb bowling from Aurel Kirnon (15-3-29-5) and Arfan Khan (10-5-20-2) demolished Saints top order leaving them in total disarray at 24-6. Some explosive hitting from Baines Ridgeway gave the hosts some hope of a recovery, but the pace of George Findlay (7-1-21-3) brought the innings to a close and secured an impressive victory for the Perry Barr based team.

This was a much improved performance from last week, and hopefully Manor have now set a benchmark level for the remainder of the season.
