Manor must turn season around

Warwickshire League
Premier League
1st XI
Solihull Municipal 368-6
Aston Manor 247 all out

Aston Manor’s poor fielding from last week was repeated at Church Road as an impressive Solihull team took full advantage and rattled up an imposing 368-6 on a superb batting track.

Tyler Walsh (130) led the way with support from George Gray (84) as Manor’s hapless bowlers were put to the sword. Brothers Kieran and Shaun Carroll each grabbed a couple of wickets, and although this may be a virtually new Manor 1st XI, it is a young team and there is no excuse for the poor performances in the field over the last couple of matches.

On such a good surface chances are at a premium and again Manor were guilty of wasting too many.

Application is also required in the batting department, and again this was sadly lacking. Recordo Gordon (81) continued his good form but apart from a short cameo from Shaun Findlay (37) no other batsman was able to offer Gordon the required support. There was certainly no change in the quality of the wicket as was proved by the ease in which Manor’s last pair batted to become within 4 overs of the saving the match. The stand of 60 between the Carroll brothers brought some respectability to Manors final score with Shaun finally being dismissed for 34 leaving Kieran unbeaten.

After looking at a late promotion charge two weeks ago Manor now need to get a couple of wins under their belt to ensure that they are not dragged into a relegation battle.
