Manor Hold Nerve to Win

Despite the distraction of broken windows, rabbit holes gobbling up the ball and a crazed player/umpire who wanted to take his stumps and bails home with him Manor managed to secure an away victory in their top the table clash at Wall CC in their Sunday Lichfield League encounter.

Batting first, Manor were bowled out for 206 with solid contributions from Kyle Schreuder (52), Darren Baker (42), Abdul Rahim (39) and Nabeel Asghar (31).

Despite Walls imported pro from nearby Burton on Trent CC, who smashed an excellent ton, the visitors were finally victorious restricting their hosts to 188-9.

Young Shaun Carroll (3-14) was outstanding with the ball and received good support in particular from the old war horse Jon Meacham (2-17). Wing Commander Geoffrey Knowles also belied his years with steady bowling despite an interesting first delivery which saw him spread eagled in the middle of the pitch.

To add to the fun, Darren tried to ignite World War III with his wit and charm, but super skip Woody held his troops in check to gain a fine victory on an eventful Sunday afternoon in the Staffordshire countryside.
