Manor get the better of Barby

Warwickshire Premier League
1st XI
Aston Manor 294-9
Barby 228-6

Manor had the better of a high scoring game at Church Road on Saturday to continue their gradual improvement in results as the season progresses.

The hosts total of 294-9 from their 50 overs was built around an excellent partnership between Danial Chaudhry (80) and David Yeend (64). Chaudhry is a recent signing for the Club and is already providing the required consistency which had been lacking from early season performances. Adam Nevitt also contributed 46 toward Manor’s impressive total.

Whilst South African, Pieter Pretorious (66), was at the crease it appeared that Barby may have a chance of chasing the total down. He received good support from Tom Gleghorn (61) and Will Sinclair (57) but once he was dismissed the visitors took no risks in trying to win the game and settled for a draw. Manor’s opening bowling pair of Recordo Gordon (2-35) and Masood Iqbal (2-42) were both dangerous and economic from their 12 over spells and the other two wickets were picked up by spinners Shaun Findlay (1-36) and Junior Johnson (1-45).

Manor will just regret that they couldn’t dismiss Pretorious a little earlier to open up the possibility of a victory.
