Manor draw away to Kenilworth

Warwickshire Premier League
1st XI
Aston Manor 220-9
Kenilworth 173-8

Following the disappointment of having last weeks game completely washed out, and ultimately losing their hard earned place at the top of the table, Manor returned to action with a tricky away fixture at Kenilworth.

After electing to bat, and despite a promising debut innings from Tom Caulfield (23), the visitors were struggling at 98-6 before an excellent partnership between hard hitting Shaun Findlay (75) and skipper Jason Furnell (58) revived Manors fortunes to see them close on 220-9 from their 50 overs.

With strike bowler George Findlay unable to bowl, Manor were dealt a further blow when in form Aurell Kirnon also picked up an injury in his first over. He continued to bowl off only two paces but such was his quality that he finished with very credible figures of 3-55 from his 15 overs. Arfan Khan (3-59) supported him well, but although backed up by a fine fielding performance, Manors attack lacked the cutting edge to seal a victory. James Nason (70) was the mainstay of the hosts innings, whilst Furnell and Findlay supplemented their batting heroics with a wicket each.

This was another impressive performance from the Perry Barr based side who remain second in the League, but with the strength in depth emerging at the Club there is great optimism that they will be able to sustain their challenge for the title and earn an immediate return to the Birmingham League.
