Manor demolish Fillongley

Warwickshire Premier League
1st XI
Aston Manor 246-7 declared
Fillongley 64 all out
ASTON MANOR WON BY 182 RUNS

Manor kept up the pressure at the top of the Premier League with a comfortable victory against struggling Fillongley at Church Road.

The hosts opted to bat first, and Tom Caulfield (34) again showed great promise as a new young opening batsman for the club. Manor’s innings though was built around an excellent knock from his experienced opening partner Kameron Zaman (105). Zaman was composed throughout his fine contribution and some late quick runs from Peter Evans (25) and George Findlay (12no) gave Captain Jason Furnell the option to declare at 246-7 from 47 overs.

The declaration gave Manor 53 overs to dismiss their opponents but only 26 were needed as the visitors crumbled under the pressure of Manor’s outstanding bowling and keen fielding. Imran Khan (4-21) had a fine debut replacing the injured Aurell Kirnon, but it was Arfan Khan (6-38) who was the main destroyer in a sublime spell of seam and swing bowling.

The Division is looking more like a two horse race between Manor and Bedworth for the promotion place back to the Birmingham League, and hopefully the strength in depth at the Club will hold Manor in good stead to maintain the level of intensity in their Cricket that they have displayed so far this season.
