Manor beat Quatt by 76 runs

1st XI
Birmingham League Division Three
Aston Manor 207-8 (50 overs)
Quatt 131 all out (38.4 overs)

Manor secured their second win of the season with a comprehensive victory at Church Road against newly promoted Shropshire side Quatt.

The hosts started solidly with the bat, with useful contributions from Nabeel Asghar (37), Aafan Janjua (33), Aurell Kirnon (28), Andrew Forman (27) and Peter Evans (20). Despite all of them looking in good touch, none were able to go on and play the major significant innings the team required. Poor shot selection was the underlying problem and it was left to a very sensible partnership between the experienced duo of Arfan Khan (25no) and Michael Bromhall (11no) to ensure that Manor reached a competitive total of 207-8 from their 50 overs.

Any hope the visitors had of reaching their target was blown away by some tremendous seam bowling from Arfan Khan (3-33) and Aurell Kirnon (2-27) together with a welcome return to form from young spinner Nabeel Asghar (3-20). Quatt found themselves in disarray at 68-8 with the game effectively over, but Manor failed to keep up their early intensity and the visitors were able to recover to 131 all out. Julius Benjamin (1-22) and Armadeep Sonkar (1-27) were the other wicket takers for Manor, who will nevertheless need to step up their game when table topping Streetly visit Church Road next Saturday.
