Inexperienced 1st XI Suffer Testing Game

With availability again being a major problem Manor proved far too inexperienced and weak against a strong Lichfield team on Sunday at Church Road. Despite a great effort and attitude shown by the young and the occasional bowlers who were forced into action they could not prevent Lichfield amassing a staggering 365-4 from 40 overs. T. Flier (Lichfield) continued his incredible run of form with the bat on Sundays as he went on to make a double hundred (although we dropped him on 20), having already hit three tons this season. It was a thoroughly demoralising experience, especially for the younger players, but to their credit they continued to give 100% in the field.

Manor actually made an encouraging start to their reply with Andy Forman (47) showing some encouraging form in a quick scoring opening partnership with Dominic Ashton (21). Adam Rana (30) also showed some resilience at the crease, but the rest of the team failed to come to terms with some accurate bowling and were finally dismissed for only 160.

Many thanks to the few senior players who made the effort to turn out and play, and apologies to the youngsters that they had to endure such a torrid afternoon through no fault of their own.
