Improvement continues at Bablake
Warwickshire Premier League
1st XI
Aston Manor 214-8
Bablake 185 all out
ASTON MANOR WON BY 29 RUNS
Aston Manor’s improvement in form continued away at Bablake, but sadly following last week’s postponed game, it is all too late to launch a late promotion bid.
On a difficult wicket Manor’s top three of David Yeend (34), Recordo Gordon (33) and Danial Chaudhry (38) gave Manor a solid base from which to build a commanding total.
Unfortunately a quick rush of wickets meant that they were unable to capitalise on the good early work until Taimur Imran (43no) came to the crease and batted with great authority to see the visitors through to a competitive total of 214-8 from their 50 overs.
Despite a fine opening spell from Recordo Gordon (2-29) the game appeared to be in the balance until stand in skipper Russell Guy took the brave decision to try a couple of his part time bowlers. Guy himself took 2-21 with his ‘off cutters’ whilst the gentle swing bowling of Danial Chaudhry (4-26) provided a match winning spell to see Manor victorious by 29 runs. The other wickets were taken by Imran Khan (1-27) and Junior Johnson (1-29).
