High Scoring Match Ends In Defeat
A huge crowd basking in the sunshine at Church Road were treated to another exciting Lichfield League Sunday encounter, but for the third match running Manor came out narrow losers, this time against Boundary Sports.
The hosts bowling was far too erratic against some quality batsmen as the visitors rattled up a massive 272-4 from their 40 overs.
Manors reply was centred on an exhilarating innings by Christi Viljoen (107) who received great support from both Chris Whittock (45) and Andrew Forman (40) as the hosts looked for an unlikely win. Viljoens departure to a fine catch in the deep seemed to signal the end for Manor but both Adam Rana (21no) and Nabeel Asghar (12no) were inventive to the end as the Squirrels closed on a highly commendable 254-5, falling 18 runs short of their target.
