Good Run Out for the 1sts

Aston Manor started their outdoor preparations for the 2011 season with a 6 wicket defeat against Marston Green at Church Road on Saturday.

A young and inexperienced home side were dismissed for a disappointing 157 although Darren Baker (34), Andrew Forman (30), Peter Evans (27) and Shozab Haider (25) all showed some early season promise with the bat. Despite two wickets from 17 year old debutant Jack Hobbis and a good overall display in the field the visitors built their innings around the experienced ex Barnt Green captain Simon Froggat and ran out comfortable winners.

This season Manors 1st XI will be boosted by the return of quick bowler Julius Benjamin from Four Oak Saints, the signing of wicket keeper Mickey Brommall from Moseley Ashfield and the impending acquisition of Aideel Aftab from Attock. Manor have again looked to South Africa for their overseas player, Kyle Schreuder who is a top order left handed bat and a left arm spinner will be joining the club on April 26.

Outdoor nets are now being held on Wednesday evenings at the club ground from 6-15pm, and this Saturday, April 23, Manor will send a 1st XI to Rectory Road for a friendly match with Sutton Coldfield while the 2nd XI will welcome West Bromwich Dartmouth to Church Road.
