Evesham Hold Their Nerve
On a green one at the Manor, skipper Evans lost the toss for the second time in a row. This again proved costly, as the visitors removed the hosts for just 106 from 51.4 overs thanks mainly to 4-22 from South African Matt Snyman. Only Adam Rana showed any willing to stay at the crease to make 19.
Following a tea time rollicking, the Squirrels set off in aggressive fashion with a barmy first 15 overs with Chhabra taking 3-9 off 8 overs and Viljoen 3-45, reducing the visitors from Worcestershire to 11-6! This brought former England test and one-day international star, Neal Radford, to the crease. The score had reached 30 before the next wicket fell. However, no more wickets fell and Evesham got home in the 39th over. Radford finished on 52 not out, the next highest score being 8! Manor have only themselves to blame, conceding 39 extras, incoluding an astonishing 24 wides due to some wayward bowling. Much work needs to be done to catch the leading pack following two straight defeats, the first time this has occurred this season.
Winning ways need to be found against an improving St. Georges side this Saturday in Telford.
