Disappointment Followed By Washout After Great Batting Performance

Aston Manor 97 all out
Tamworth 100-0

Aston Manor 287-7 (37 overs)
Cannock Wood

Manors batsmen returned to form at Church Road on Sunday, after the previous weeks debacle away at Tamworth which had seen them dismissed for a paltry 97 in a ten wicket defeat.

The only positive point to take from a miserable Sunday outing was the fine and unlucky bowling of 14 year old Brinda Phagaru who gained very little assistance from his out of sort and more experienced team mates.

However, the following Sunday Darren Baker (121) was in imperious mood as the Squirrels smashed 287-7 from 37 overs against Cannock Wood before the rain came to the visitors rescue. Darren smashed 24 off the first over and kept up his assault reaching his fifty after only 5 overs and his ton before the end of the twentieth! Abdul Rahim (61) and Chris Whiitock (47) also joined the party before the unfortunate early and wet end to proceedings!
