Aston Manor Win Again vs Aldridge
Sunday’s fixture away at Aldridge again saw another fine batting performance by Evans and Manor as the visitors totalled 294-7. The captain made a fine 57 and was well supported again by the excellent Wittock (79) and Forman (47) with encouraging contributions by debutants Hassan Ansari (32) and Shahid Kureshyi (26). Aldridge also enjoyed the fine batting surface but with wickets being shared between Kureshyi, Ansari, Forman. Knowles and Illyas the hosts finished on 221-7.
This match saw our 2009 overseas player, Christi Viljoen, make his debut. Although he was wicketless there was sufficent evidence that he will be a great success at Manor this season. He bowls with great pace and aggression. Viljoen will carry a great responsibilty this season as Manor try and recover from the loss of Julius Benjamin to Four Oaks Saints and the disappointing decision made by Warwickshire to allocate Ateeq Javed to West Bromwich Dartmouth without any consultation.
