Aston Manor Boy Rules The World…Well Down Under

Congratulations to Chris Woakes, Aston Manor born and breed, who made his full international debut on Wednesday in the opening T20 against Australia at Adelaide. His first international scalp was Australian skipper Cameron White and finish with 1-34 from his 4 overs.

It didn’t finish there. Chris showed ice-cool nerves to hit the winning runs off the last ball from Aussie paceman  Shaun Tait.

The Aussies set England a target of 158 with another Warwickshire stalwart, Ian Bell making a strong start. England required 28 runs from 27 balls with three wickets in hand when Chris Woakes came in. England coach, Andy Flower, hearing rumours that Chris Woakes thought himself as a Freddie Flintoff, moved Chris up the order.  He dispatched Shaun Tait for a magnificent 6 in his batting spell.

Chris finished on 19 not out from 14 balls to mark an unforgettable start.
