1sts continue improvement in form

Warwickshire Premier League
Aston Manor 1st XI 262-9
Hampton & Solihull 1st XI 176 all out

Aston Manor continued their improvement in form but their victory at Church Road was marred by a nasty shoulder injury to all-rounder Shaun Findlay which will see him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Some explosive and exciting batting from Recordo Gordon (63) got their innings off to a positive start and with valuable support from Adam Nevitt (45), David Yeend (40) and Russell Guy (36) the hosts were able to post an impressive 262-9 from their 50 overs. At one stage Manor may have hoped to reach 275 plus but they were held back by some fine spin bowling from Tim Keyte (5-49).

Despite solid batting from Matthew James (60) and Johangir Khan (46) the visitors were never really in the hunt to chase down Manor’s total. Gordon also showed his prowess with the ball taking 4-39 with some quick and aggressive bowling and Clement Smith (3-30) also bowled with genuine pace. However, arguably the pick of Manor’s bowlers was Masood Iqbal (1-35) . Iqbal gave Manor control throughout and took the vital wicket of Khan at an important stage of the match. Hampton & Solihull were finally dismissed with more than ten overs remaining, the other wickets being claimed by Shaun Carroll (1-28) and Junior Johnson (1-38).
